Short stories for children teach our kids so many things and help them to be imaginative and creative in their own way.

We all have heard the famous saying that books are man’s best friend. Without any doubt, it’s true and what a good start from your child’s childhood!

Stories perform an essential role in the growth and development of children. Reading and storytelling with your child promotes brain maturation and imagination, teaches your child about language and emotions, and thus restores your relationship. The books they read and the characters they get to know while reading, can become their best friends. It’s also observed for children to understand that books are a useful source of information and that good reading skills are crucial for success in their future lives. Reading also benefits children with their confidence levels, coping with feelings and language and learning.

Confidence Levels

Children who can read well are more likely to have greater confidence levels. This will benefit them in school as they’ll feel like they can participate more comfortably in activities. Another component of building confidence and self-esteem is acknowledging where you fit into the world. Stories can help with this process by showing children what other people’s lives are like, where they live, and their culture in other parts of the world.

Advancement of Imagination

Stories help to promote a child’s imagination by introducing new ideas into their world, ideas about fantastical worlds, other planets, diverse points in time, and invented characters. It’ll encourage the children to recognize that they can, and should, imagine anything they want. The beauty of stories is that they can be super realistic or astonishingly fantastical. They can be reading about children growing up in exactly the same circumstances as them one minute and the next about some other species.

Coping With Feelings

When children read stories that embrace feelings it can help them understand and accept their own inner feelings. It helps them understand that there are other children who feel and believe the same way and that they are not alone. This helps the child to realize that feelings are normal and should be revealed and expressed. Watching their responses to the feelings of the characters in the stories will give you a remarkable idea of how a child feels about several situations and emotions. For example, how the child reacts to the character in the story feeling worried or scared will give you some idea of how the child thinks.

And then there are many more benefits of reading short stories. However, let’s quickly check the most amazing stories and that too with amazing morals. Let’s get started:

Considering the village was on the way to this lake, the elephants injured the mice while walking there. So, the king of mice decided to meet the elephants regarding this. He told them, ” Dear elephants, as you travel through the village, many mice get crushed. We will be extremely grateful if you could please consider changing your path. We will always remember this and return the favor whenever you are in need.”

The King of the elephants laughed, “We are enormous elephants. What favor can you little mice return? Although, we honor your request and will surely change our route.”

After several days, the elephants got trapped in nets that were set up by hunters. They struggled vigorously to escape, but all their efforts were in vain. The elephant king cherished the promise made by the king of mice. So, he sent a fellow elephant who got lucky and was not ambushed, to ask the mice king to come and help them.

Soon, all the mice came and began nibbling the nets, and saved the elephants. The king of the elephants couldn’t thank the mice enough and thus build a strong friendship!
